Your desk is where you bring your dreams to life so your desk should be organized with relaxing desk items. This post is going to help you learn about the girl boss essentials and desk decor for a productive and relaxing work space.
When you’re stressed, overwhelmed, or just looking to be more productive, your work environment will play a large role in your mental state.
Organization in general will help you feel more relaxed and productive because everything will be in its own place. A cluttered desk will lead to cluttered thoughts and you’ll waste time trying to find everything you need.
It’s also important to create a relaxing work environment because work can get stressful. Because of that, it’s important to set yourself up in a calming work space.
Meet your goals, stay organized, and ease that mind by setting up your desk with these relaxing desk items.
1. Desk Organizer
The first step to organizing your work space is to use a desk organizer. This organizer will be the place to put pens, pencils, sticky notes, paper clips, etc. That way, everything is in its own dedicated space instead of flying around on your desk.
With five compartments and a sliding drawer, this desk organizer has a spot for all of your stuff.
Having this on your desk will keep everything neat and organized but still in accessible reach on your desk. I am also currently obsessed with rose gold so I was really excited to find a desk organizer in that color.
2. Stress Relief Candle
Another one of my favorite relaxing desk items is a scented candle. Choose one with a calming scent like vanilla, eucalyptus, or lavender.
Engage all of your senses, including smell, to make your entire being feel relaxed.
This aromatherapy candle will provide some added stress relief to your work space. I often get a three-wick candle like this one because it’ll last longer. I think that’s important because I like to light it everyday when I first sit down to work.
The eucalyptus and spearmint combination is really calming so you’ll feel at peace and ready to get to work.
3. Motto of the Day Card Set
Another essential item for boss babe inspiration is a motto of the day card set. Inspiring quotes, affirmations, and mottos can be a great way to remind yourself of positive thoughts. Keep a motto or favorite quote nearby in your work space.
This motto of the day card set will provide daily inspiration for you.
I have one on my desk, and I look forward to changing the motto each day when I sit down. It makes me smile throughout the day as I work and look over at it every now and then.
4. Desk Drawer Organizer
Every girl boss needs some organization in her life! In addition to making the top of your desk look organized, you’ll also want to add some calming desk decor to the inside. This will get your desk drawers organized and tidy. Although people may not see the inside of your drawers, you will!
Additionally, if everything is organized you’ll know where everything is, and you’ll be able to be more productive.
I don’t know about you guys, but when I first set up my desk I threw a bunch of stuff into the drawers. And then over time it became a disorganized mess where I could never find what I was looking for.
So for me a drawer organizer was life changing and one of the best relaxing desk items I’ve purchased. This one has a really nice calming wood aesthetic that will look good with any desk!
5. Daily To-Do List Notepad
The next girl boss essential? A daily planner!
I created a daily planner to help myself and you. Not only is it a great way to write down and track all of the tasks you need to accomplish that day, but it even has a spot for self care, daily habits, and gratitude.
This means you can stay organized and on track with work, but also include one of your most important daily goals – taking care of yourself. Provide your email below to download this printable daily planner!
As a bonus, you’ll also get three other life-changing self care resources: A weekly self care planner, a stress management checklist, and monthly journal prompts.
6. Stress Ball
Stress relief is a major girl boss essential. Work can get stressful, so it’s important to give yourself tools to help you reduce stress in the moment.
I love keeping a stress ball at my desk because it’s a great way to relieve stress. It will also keep your hands occupied while you read something and stretch your hands after a lot of typing.
These ones are especially great because they have inspirational messages on them.
7. Photo Board
Another one of my favorite relaxing desk items is a photo board.
Keeping photos by your desk is a great way to make it feel comfortable. It will remind you of all the people supporting you.
Pictures will also remind you of times you were really happy or did something cool or fun.
I like to keep pictures of my boyfriend, friends, family, and of course my puppy next to my desk. So, if I ever feel down I can look at all of those pictures and feel better.
8. Comfy wrist pad
If you spend all day on the computer, you might be familiar with cramped arms and wrists from typing. Ease your pain with a super comfy wrist pad for your keyboard.
This simple fix will make a big difference in the quality of your time in your work space.
9. White noise sound machine
A sound machine can be a great purchase. They are often popular for helping yourself fall asleep at night, but it might also be your next favorite relaxing desk item.
Playing loud music or watching TV while trying to work is not necessarily a recipe for for productivity but having a quiet white background noise can actually help you concentrate on the task at hand.
I love this noise machine because it has several sound options like rain, thunder, white noise, and more. It also has a timer so you can choose to leave it on indefinitely or have it turn off after a set amount of time.
10. Plants
Plants help bring the outside inside for a calming work space. Plants help to add oxygen into your environment and can be great for adding peace to your desk.
Even if you don’t want to care for a plant, an artificial plant can still help make your desk feel more relaxing. When searching for the right plant or artificial plant to put on your desk, I recommend something that is small and low-profile to avoid taking up usable work space.
Something like these mini succulents would be perfect!
11. Zen garden
The next relaxing desk item is a zen garden. I mean it has “zen” in the name, how could you go wrong?
A zen garden is a perfect way to bring some relaxation into your work space. Caring for the zen garden or just admiring it during a work break can feel like a peaceful retreat.
12. Desk chair
Without a supportive desk chair, your work space will never feel comfortable and relaxing. An uncomfortable chair can contribute to back and posture issues. It can also just simply be distracting if you aren’t physically comfortable while you are trying to focus on work.
Sitting for long periods of time during the day can take a toll on the body – so it’s important to invest in an ergonomic chair that will support you as you work.
This chair looks sleek and will go with your workspace, plus it will be supportive and comfortable.
13. Desk lamp
Another one of the best relaxing desk items is a lamp that will help reduce eye strain and provide a calming glow to your work space.
Trying to read in a dimly lit space or harsh, flickering lights can cause eye strain while your are trying to work. This lamp was specifically designed to reduce strain on your eyes. It also has a simple, low-profile look to blend into your workspace without taking up a ton of usable space on your desk.
14. Hand lotion
The final girl boss essential is some skin care.
I love to keep a soothing hand lotion at my desk to keep me relaxed and show my skin some extra love throughout the day.
There’s nothing better than giving your hands some moisture because you use them all day long. Especially if you work at a job where you’re doing a lot of typing, moisturizing will be a real treat.
First Aid Beauty is one of my favorite brands. And this is one of my favorite go-to hand creams to use throughout the day. It smells great and won’t leave hands feeling too greasy for when you want to bring your hands back to the keyboard.
Those are the best relaxing desk items for a calming and organized work space.
There’s no reason your work space should be adding more clutter or stress to your mind!
All of these items will leave your desk feeling calm and organized. As a result you will feel more relaxed and productive.
